The new Extranet service for smooth reporting of packaging data

Rinki launched its new trilingual Extranet service for business customers at the beginning of the year. According to Rinki’s customer survey, logging in to the service was easy and the reporting of packaging data ran smoothly.

The new Extranet service was used to submit more packaging data than the previous year: 99% of 2019 packaging data was submitted through Rinki’s new Extranet service, while the figure for 2018 was 88%.

Rinki asked its business customers what they thought of the new Extranet service via an email survey in early March. The questionnaire was sent to everyone who had submitted their packaging data via the service. A total of 297 customers responded.

The Extranet is easy to use

It is now easier to log in to the Extranet. Customers now log in with their email address and a one-time PIN code, whereas earlier they used to need their customer number and a password. 97 % of respondents said that they did not have any problems logging in, while only 3 % had minor problems, which eventually did not prevent to log in to the service.

The vast majority –  95 % – of respondents thought that the reporting of packaging data ran smoothly on the Extranet. The customers gave the Extranet service an overall rating of ‘good’, with an average of 4 on a scale of 1-5.

The open-ended answers to the survey revealed that the customers were happy with features such as access to the previous year’s report in the service. They were also pleased that the service flagged any discrepancies in this year’s data compared to last year’s data.

Several respondents also said that it is easier to report packaging data using the new Extranet service. One suggestion that stood out in terms of areas of development was a function for printing out or saving the packaging data submitted to the service, which was not always available in the new system.

It is great to hear that we have managed to improve our service. We also take the feedback we receive into account when we further develop the system,” says Rinki’s Customer Service Manager, Maija Peltola.

Update information and download material using the service

You can find the Rinki Extranet service at extranet.rinkiin.fi, and it is available in Finnish, Swedish and English. Companies can use the service to quickly and easily submit their annual packaging data to Rinki. Instructions for filling in the form are also available in all three languages. Companies can also download the Rinki trademark and certificate, which are Rinki customer benefits, from the Extranet, and they can also use it to update their contact details, such as billing address.

The service was redesigned to enable Rinki to better serve its customers and respond to their wishes. The Extranet is now available in multiple languages and can be used by more than one contact person. The new Extranet enables versatile further development, which will also benefit Rinki’s customers as they have access to a better service.

– Packaging data will have to be more accurate next year due to the changes to the EU Waste Directive, which necessitated the building of a service that is easy to modify. Our customers will benefit from already being familiar with the new system, Peltola points out.

When reporting packaging volumes in the future, companies will need to report all materials in packaging composed of multiple materials, such as composite packaging, separately.
